Super Simple Guide to Setting Up Your First Company Profile on LinkedIn
If you want to use LinkedIn to find colleagues, friends, freelance work or a new job from this excellent professional social networking site then you are going to have to first set up a profile and if you want to use LinkedIn to market your company and its services or products then the same applies.
Here is a super simple guide to setting up your first company profile on LinkedIn and the reason why we say first company is that after you have set up your first one you will probably want to set up more company profiles because it is that easy.
The super simple guide to setting up your first company profile on LinkedIn simple steps:
(Note: Some steps may not apply to you, please skip to the next step)
Step One
The first thing to do is to go to LinkedIn.com, by typing in www.linkedin.com on the right hand side of the screen beneath a thin banner is a bow with the title “Join LinkedIn Today.”
Simply fill in your First name, last name, email address and choose a password, then click “Join Now” a green button at the bottom of the “Join LinkedIn Today.”
Step Two
If you have filled in the box correctly you will be taken to a page entitled “Let’s get your professional profile started” where you will be asked a few simple questions.
I am currently – you need to choose a phrase that describes you from a multiple choice drop down menu. You can be ‘Employed,’ “A business owner,’ etc.
The next box to fill in is Company a drop down menu for you to select the Industry you work in, and after that another drop down menu for the Country you live in and finally your Post Code.
All of the above fields are ‘required.’
Once you have filled this section in you click a blue box entitled ‘continue.’
Step Three
You will be asked to confirm your email address; this is done by LinkedIn sending you an email to the address you supplied. All you have to do is to click on the confirmation link in the email to activate your account.
Step Four
Once you have confirmed your email using the method above you can “See Who You Already Know on LinkedIn” by automatically enabling LinkedIn to send emails to your contacts at Yahoo, Windows Live (Hotmail), Gmail, AOL or other web mail providers.
You can also skip this step if you want to do that later and click ‘Skip this step’
Step Five
Step five is all about you, what you do, who you know and so you are invited to fill in as much (or as little) as you want to once you have completed as much of this form as you want to you can progress to your account.
One quick hint it is always a good idea to use a photograph with your name, there may be more than one ‘Fred Snoggins’ and if your friends and colleagues see your picture they will LinkedIn with you faster.
Step Five
If you’re company is not already listed, click the ‘Companies’ links atop and proceed to click the ‘Add a company’ button, as displayed in the following screenshot:

Note: Only current employees / owners are eligible to create a public company profile.
